Mr. Scott's Teaching Reflections

The first goal I would like to work on this year is to learn and implement the AISC Data Protocol to assist the grade 4 team in processing, understanding, and using student data to meet the needs of our students. I believe this goal relates directly to Standard 2 Assessment of Student Learning is Consistent with AISC Expectations, particularly the section describing the use of data gained from assessments to strengthen teaching practice and improve student learning.  The second goal I would like to pursue this year is I would like to focus on helping students to improve their reading levels this year by utilizing F&P data, reading records, summative reading assessments, and data collected while conferring with students. I plan to make use of the F&P continuum to help to plan goals and push students to the next reading level. This goal relates directly to Standard 3: Teacher Demonstrates Individual Approach to Student Educational Needs.  

                                This year the first goal I would like to work on is t o build rapport with each student in 4SS virtually and hopefully on campus throughout the year. I feel that a positive teacher/student rapport is central to the success of connecting with students and supporting their growth throughout the year. This goal is connected to Standard 9: Teacher-student rapport is effective and consistent with AISC beliefs. I plan to work toward this goal by making a consistent effort to connect with students on a personal level during 1:1 meetings by inquiring into their interests, well being, personal life, hobbies, etc. I also intend to make ongoing attempts to make students laugh and feel safe and comfortable in class with their teachers and each other. This year I would like to focus on Standard 9:  Teacher works productively with others, in accordance with AISC beliefs. This is an important goal this year since Ms. Uma has joined our triad and I will be working with her closely each day in her new role as our co-teacher. The second goal I would like to concentrate on is the implementation of Seesaw as a learning platform for students to tell their growth story. I believe this goal is connected to Standard 12:  Teacher demonstrates proficiency with technology. I would like to pursue this goal collaboratively with fellow grade 3 teachers.

This academic year, I would like to focus on two areas-- Standard 3:  Teacher demonstrates individual approach to students’ educational needs and Standard 6:  Teacher establishes a classroom culture conducive to learning. In relation to standard 3, meeting students' individual needs, I intend to work toward this goal by collaboratively designing home learning menus with the third grade team in effort to create a more flexible and personalized home learning experience for students and parents. This process will require considerable discussion and collaboration to agree on an evolving menu that meets our students' needs throughout the year in various subjects areas. Goal Statements: 1- This year, I would like to focus on collaboration(standard 9). This year I have two new triad members, and three new team members. Each week we have team meetings with coaches, and additionally, I am leading the ES science vertical team. This amounts to a great deal of time spent each week collaborating. My aim is to develop positive, productive, relationships with each team member and coach. I would like to reflect on what is working well in each collaborative setting, and what might be improved. 2- My second priority is  professional learning (standard 11). I have had a Twitter account for a number of years which I have used only sporadically. This year, I have been making an effort to read and share educational articles, as well as, gain some insight into the excellent work that my colleagues have been sharing.
